Job Description

Sales Director

Full time

Derby

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Sales Director within our Customer Team in Derby.

In this role you will be responsible for understanding customer needs, developing sales strategies, positioning Rolls-Royce products and services, developing campaign tactics, pitching commercial solutions, and negotiating complex and high value engine aftermarket proposals. This includes management of the internal sales process (the “Sell Value Stream”) which assists collaboration with many other parts of the Customer Team and Services organisation.

While Sales Directors report on functional lines into a Vice President Sales, it is crucial that they also operate effectively and consistently as part of the Rolls-Royce multi-disciplinary account team assigned to manage the customer, working closely with, and taking direction from other customer account stakeholders.

Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future, and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

What we offer:

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

This is a broad and comprehensive role, which involves critical interactions with both our own leadership, as well as seniors within our customers; where the ability to influence and persuade is key. Your main objectives will be:

  • Deliver business returns and maximise profit for both new aircraft and in-service fleets through original equipment sales and long-term maintenance support agreements. Undertake internal/supplier Quality audits and support external audits imposed on the organisation as directed.
  • Define and execute the campaign strategy required to win the business opportunity and make the internal case for the resources – financial, people, investment or otherwise – needed to deliver the strategy.
  • Lead the Rolls-Royce campaign team, which may have both permanent and agile members, internally and in front of our customers.

Who we’re looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form the behaviours that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You will be customer centric and interpersonal-savvy, able to maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
  • You will be a strong communicator, able to read situations and act accordingly.
  • Excellent presentation skills (oral and written) to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to engage customers and functions as a team player and project leader.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

We welcome applications from people with a refugee background.
